Hypnotherapy for Anxiety
Hypnotherapy for anxiety
The term encompasses a broad range of conditions, including Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and stress. Symptoms can range from restlessness, worry, difficulty sleeping to panic attacks.
In hypnotherapy, we use visualisation as a way of breaking anxious thoughts. The use of trance techniques replicates the natural restorative function of REM sleep while relaxing the flight and fight functions of the mind allow new, positive messages to form.
Many clients are surprised that solution-focused hypnotherapy does not significantly focus on the source of the anxiety and panic attacks. We believe it is far more empowering to envisage a positive future without it and allow the mind to hardwire new calmer and more beneficial thought patterns
In solution-focused hypnotherapy, we look at using different methods to assist in the reduction of symptoms of anxiety. These include improving REM sleep, which helps the brain naturally process stress, increasing serotonin, and using positive suggestions to help the brain visualise your preferred future. Hypnosis is a very calming and relaxing therapy to lessen those tense feelings.
Although this is a little bit of a ‘piece of string’ question and is influenced by several factors, we work quickly, and positive changes can happen rapidly.
