The term encompasses a broad range of conditions, including Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and stress. Symptoms can range from restlessness, worry, difficulty sleeping to panic attacks.
In hypnotherapy, we use visualisation as a way of breaking anxious thoughts. The use of trance techniques replicates the natural restorative function of REM sleep while relaxing the flight and fight functions of the mind allow new, positive messages to form.
Many clients are surprised that solution-focused hypnotherapy does not significantly focus on the source of the anxiety and panic attacks. We believe it is far more empowering to envisage a positive future without it and allow the mind to hardwire new calmer and more beneficial thought patterns
